Found Object Robots – calling all humans!! Ready to build your very own robot from vintage tins, metal bits and pieces, wheels, gears and more? We will be doing exactly that using wire and 2 part epoxy to secure our robots. Bring your sense of humor and stuff from your junk drawer!!

Patriotic Jointed Paper Dolls – It’s time to play with paper dolls again so get your scissors ready! We will be collaging and embellishing our dolls on a cardstock base, and putting them together with eyelets and wire, with lots of red, white and blue sparkle and tiny flags! Bring a photo face from home or choose from vintage images here in the shop.
$35 class fee, supplies included (wooden stand available for purchase)

Tuesday, August 3, 3:00 p.m. or Thursday, August 5, 7:00 p.m.
Clothesline Paper Doll collage – summer is the perfect time to hang out the clothesline! We will be assembling a paper doll to hang in the middle of the clothesline, surrounded by her favorite outfits, all out of collage, ribbons, lace and fun vintage images. Tiny clothespins and clothesline complete the project. Come and play!

Tuesday, August 10, 3:00 p.m.
Assemblage Magic Wands – this project is perfect for a birthday, so come and create a little magic!! We will be assembling our magic wands out of chippy spindles or dowels, attaching stars, faces and all kinds of embellishments. These are fun to display when you are not using them!!

Saturday, August 21, 10:00 a.m.
Origami Folded Handmade Books – local book artist Kathy Hackbarth will be returning to Assemblage to teach this fun project. We will be creating our books out of bookboard and folded paper, constructed with an origami fold technique, producing a bunch of fun pockets to hold stuff inside plus pages to write on. Kathy will have a selection of fun papers to choose from for the covers of your book or browse in the shop’s collection!

Saturday, September 18, 10:00 a.m.
Handmade Nature Journals – local fiber and mixed media artist Theresa Petermann and Teresa Ann Gifford will be team teaching this fun project here at Assemblage. We have been collecting all summer – shells, twigs, feathers, bugs and more - and we are ready to construct our journals! Choose between a cigar box cover or gameboard to create your journal, using handmade paper or canvas paper for the pages, lots of different techniques to show off your collectibles, paint techniques and more!! You don’t want to miss this fun class!

Spooky Halloween Houses - collage and mixed media artist Nancy Hoover from Appleton will be joining us again at Assemblage to teach this fun class. We will be building our houses out of paper, collaging and embellishing with Halloween images, glitter, and more – they will range in 4” up to 10” in size, similar to a vintage Christmas Putz house. Please join us for our building project!!

Vintage Witch Shoe – okay, I know it’s early, but I can’t resist another Halloween class – it’s my favorite!! We will be creating our witch assemblages using a vintage child or baby’s shoe, fashioning a witchy doll out of fabric with a china face, then dressing her in tulle, lace, glitter and sparkly ornaments. Come prepared to cast a spell or two!!

Paper Doll Social - With wine and cheese to inspire us - we will gather for an evening of communal paper doll making with Atlanta artist Catherine Moore. Everyone is welcome and admission is free -- please stop by and say hello!

Saturday, October 23, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m (with lunch break)
Season of the Witch - a bewitching paper doll & toy theatre class. Atlanta artist Catherine Moore will be joining us at Assemblage again to teach this fun workshop. Working with a reproduction of one of Catherine's antique cage dolls, and ledger papers from a very old scrapbook that was once kept by a preacher's wife in New England during the 1800s (full of fire and brimstone), we will conjure up a free-standing bewitched paper doll replete with a toy theatre in her skirt, a broom, a mask and a pointed hat! You may construct a unique scene in your theatre, or work with the elements Catherine provides. For embellishments, you may also wish to bring a few elements from your collections such as scraps of paper & lace, and found natural elements.
$85 class fee.
Supply kit includes everything except basic tools: Please bring a large scissor, small detail scissor, sanding sponge, soft gel matte (available at Assemblage), paint/collage brush & water container, and small scraps of paper, lace, buttons, for personalizing paper dolls.

Sunday, October 24, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
The Delicate Nest - a mixed media bracelet class. We are all birds of passage and must feather our nests with what materials we can find. Create a name bracelet, sprinkled with elements acquired in Catherine's travels, silver feathers and wings, freshwater pearls, and collaged bird & nest imagery.
$50 class fee
Supply kit includes everything except basic tools: please bring a small detail scissor, sanding sponge, No. 6 fine paint brush & water container, round nose & needle nose pliers.
